James Lloyd Brittian, 86 of Hemet, California passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017, at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, California .
He was born on Tuesday, June 23, 1931 on the Soboba Indian Reservation in San Jacinto , California.
James was a funny, witty, family-oriented man who never missed a grandchild's birthday. He was a proud member of the US Marine for 20 years. During his service, he was assigned special Presidential duty for guarding Marilyn Monroe. James was also a dedicated employee at the US Postal Service for 26 years. He was also a member of Pala Band of Mission Indians, VFW, American Legion 848, The Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge
He enjoyed traveling, taking car vacations, eating homemade tortillas and watching football.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lee Brittian, sons, Charles Brittian ( Laura ); Joe J. Brittian and Daniel Schoof ( Michele ); daughters, Luann Gaucheno ( Mike ); Barrie Brittian; Sherrill Schoof and Beth Hamilton, 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 28 at Miller-Jones Hemet Mortuary located at 1501 W Florida Ave.
A graveside service will be held at the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery located at 2555 S Santa Fe Ave, San Jacinto, California at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August. 29, 2017.
