Iris McMillan Carter, 79, passed away on November8th 2010,at home with her family at her side after a yearlong battle with sarcoma. She was born in Fairfield, Utah to Mr. and Mrs. William Ross (Margaret Petersen) McMillan in Fairfield, Utah. She attended school in Fairfield, Cedar Fort and Lehi. After graduating from Lehi High School in 1949, shestudied on a scholarship atBrigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Iris and her husband John W. Carter resided in Murrieta, California for the past 21 years. As membersof the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they served for many years as ordinance workers at the San Diego Temple. John passed away on July 11, 2010. Two sisters, Dorothy Bedilion and Diane McMillan, and a brother, Donald McMillan, preceded Iris in death. A sister, Patricia Bass ofChicago, Illinois, two sons, Stephen J. Johanson of Palmdale, California, and Thomas L. Johanson of Pasadena, California, a daughter, Lisa Tortomasi of Temecula, California, and two stepdaughters, Sandra Starnes of Mesa, Arizona and Regina Ault of Vilonia, Arkansas, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive her. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12th 2010, at the Murrieta Stake Center ofthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 24820 Las Brisas Road, Murrieta, California 92562, at 10:00 am. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, at 9:00 am. Graveside services will follow immediately at the Laurel Cemetery in Murrieta, California.
