Guadalupe Saavedra

Guadalupe (Lupe) Saavedra, 76 of Hemet, California passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, California . He was born Saturday, January 4, 1936 in Weslaco, Texas and was the loving husband of LaVerne H. Saavedra. Lupe was a Marine, educator, family man, producer of non-profit movies, and an accomplished poet. Of his many published poems, this one seems most appropriate:

Lupe and LaVerne first met in Los Angelas, CA. Throughout their 43 year marriage, they lived Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and California. Besides traveling and family, he loved reading (history), football (Oakland Raiders and WVU Mountaineers), and rugby (All Blacks, Australia).

His family describes him as generous, conservative, opinionated, and a devoted family man. Surviving family members are: wife, LaVerne Saavedra; son, Anselmo de Saavedra of Harker Heights, TX; son, Camilo Saavedra of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Haydee Saavedra of Atlanta, GA; son, Hilario Saavedra of Inglewood, CA; son, Juan Saavedra of Hemet, CA; and 9 grandchildren.
