Gregory entered this life in the fall of November 10th, 1953 to the late Otis Dickerson and Alta Dupee Dickerson in Pembroke, Kentucky. Gregory, when he became of age, he joined the Air Force where he was stationed in the Philippines and where he met his wife Carmelita Dickerson. It was in the Philippines where they had their first child, Maria Antoinette. Later he was relocated to California, March Air Force Base where their second child Gregory Owen Dickerson Jr. was born.
In 1979 Gregory furthered his education and changed his career and became a diesel mechanic. He was a great provider, hustled fixing cars or just helping those in need. His friends and family would call “Big Greg” aka Black MacGyver if they needed any work done or advice. If you met our father you knew he was a talker he had a story to tell you every time making it hard to get a word in otherwise. He was not a BSer when it came to your car, he was very honest. He was a very tough guy, a fighter with his health battles but no longer fighting when his congestive heart failure called him to crossover on May 5, 2021.
He leaves behind his lovingly wife of 45 years Carmelita Dickerson; his daughter, Maria (Darrell) Stephenson; his son, Gregory (Christy) Dickerson and his eight grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Justice, Jojo, Jessica, Mekhi, Jackie and Jada; siblings, Austin (Faye) Buckner and Otis (Josephine) Dickerson, Michael (Vivian) Dickerson, Lavaughn Dickerson, Annette (Esau), Sandra Bruise, Loraine Dickerson and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
