Gale Layne Young, age 74, passed away at home in Hemet CA on April 9, 2015 due to a sudden and unexpected cancer illness. He was born September 15, 1940 in Dodge City, Kansas, and preceded in death by his parents Clifton Irvin Young and Ellen Mae (Joy) Young and his younger brother Mark Alden Young. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Joy Plamondon, his sister, Judith Ellen (Young) Jones of Oklahoma City OK, a son and two daughters from his first marriage: Charles A. [Tony] Young of Albuquerque NM; Marcine L. Heagwood of Crestview FL; GaLela Ann Benge Leckie of Enid OK; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; also three stepdaughters and three stepsons, all of whom live in southern California.
Out of high school, Gale served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic. He completed studies in Computer Science, Mechanics, Refrigeration, and Diesel Mechanics, working for National Cash Register and Motorola, before becoming self-employed. Gale was a licensed Sea Captain for fifteen years and an auxiliary Coast Guard member for ten years. He and Dory loved to travel and owned a travel business. They were also franchise owners of Tow Boat U.S. for seven years.
Gale retired from Norco CA as a Firefighter Engineer. He was also a MFR Fireman for Fire Station 5 in Clearwater MI. He did construction and remodeling in the Hemet/Fontana area with his stepsons: Kenneth, David and Brian. He was also a landlord.
Gale and Dory loved the Lord and were members of New Hope Church in San Pedro CA for a number of years before becoming active at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove CA. Gale loved God, his family, and his children. He had a full life, with plans to do so much more.
