Freida grew up in Bedford, graduating from Bedford High School in 1952. She then went to work at General Motors as a secretary where she met Ray Wright. Freida and Ray were married July 2, 1955. One year later to the date, their daughter Debra was born. In 1958 Ray and Freida relocated to Chicago, Illinois to pursue better employment opportunities. While living in Chicago, their second child, Doug, was born. In 1961, Freida and Ray decided to move their family to Southern California, which they had visited before and loved. They decided to reside in Hemet. Soon after relocating to Hemet, their third child, Scott was born.
Freida worked in the grocery business while raising her family and eventually retired from Vons in 1998. She had a very strong work ethic and was very committed to her employers, making numerous friends along the way. She was very involved with her children’s activities and schools. She was Team Mom for Little League, Cub Scout Leader, Chaperoned Job’s Daughters events, and traveled with Hemet High School Jazz Band when her boys were members. Attended and supported her boy’s go-kart racing throughout the country.
Freida was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She devoted her life to caring for her family and friends always putting others before herself. She was beautiful, generous & fun-loving. Full of energy and always up for a good time. She was an amazing person and a blessing to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her wisdom, unwavering strength, generosity, work ethic and unconditional love.
Freida was predeceased by her parents, brothers Ralph Mikels, Jr., Gene Mikels and sister Lovetta Baldwin.
Freida is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ray Wright, her three children, daughter Debbie (Dan) Sands of Murrieta, son Doug Wright of Hemet and Scott (Cheryl) Wright of Hemet.
Four Grandchildren, Natalie Sands (Scott Royce) of Cedar City, Utah. Dustin (Sarah) Sands of Corona, Nikki (Joe) Galbraith of Saratoga Springs, Utah. Cameron (Jenifer) Wright of Hemet.
Eight Great-Grandchildren, Jake & Jett Royce, Ryder & Hailey Sands. Zach, Layla & Matt Galbraith. Mari Beth Wright.
She is also survived by Sister-in-Law Nellie Mikels of Bedford, Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews who she adored.
In keeping with Freida’s wishes, there will be no public memorial services.
