Frances Ann “Peggy” (Updike) Parks, 82, went to be with her heavenly father on July 1, 2020. Peggy was born to Jennie & Richard Updike in Marshall, Missouri on July 26, 1937. Peggy was the youngest of seven children. She was a graduate of Redlands High School, class of 1955. Peggy loved to sing and was a member of the “Temple Bells”, a capella group from Temple Baptist Church. She married Melvin Parks September 1956 in Redlands. They were married for 53 years until his untimely death in 2009. Peggy and her husband purchased their home in Sunnymead in 1967 (now Moreno Valley) where they had a cactus nursery. They were involved in the Gates Cactus Club for many years and Peggy served as secretary of the club. Peggy was a devoted Christian serving the Lord in many ways from singing in the choir and teaching children’s Sunday School. Peggy loved to travel with the southern California group “Gadabouts”. Peggy always had a smile and positive attitude throughout her life. She leaves behind family and friends and her precious little dog “Katy.” Donations in her honor may be made to Mary S Roberts Pet Adoption Center or Moreno Valley Animal Shelter. A private graveside service will be held for Peggy where she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Riverside National Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
