She was a wonderful grandma to me. I have so many memories of her throughout my life. So much love and caring. She always had a bag of m&ms ready for us granddaughters for our drive home after a visit. Strong hugs. Good sense of humor. You will be missed. I love you so much

She was the best grandmother, always loving and cared about how my life was going and new friends I’d made. 
She kept a room with random fun things for me and my sister to play with and I spent many hours having a wonderful time. 
I love how she would make placemats for her table with all our pictures and it always made me feel special. 
She was a wonderful woman and grandmother and I miss her a lot. :heart:

I'm thankful for my grandma and the Godly example she was for me growing up. She always pointed me to the Lord, she would teach me Bible stories and would have me memorize verses for prizes. She exemplified a Godly wife who obeyed the Lord for all the years my grandpa was not a Christian. When he got saved it was so great to see them serve the Lord together. Before my grandpa passed away I was able to sit and talk to him about his thoughts on dying. He said to me, "I'm ready to go to heaven but I'm worried about who will take care of your grandma." I assured him that she would be taken care of and about a week later he was done suffering and left us. I believe that Chuck was the Lord's answer to my grandpa's prayer. He took amazing care of my grandma for the rest of her life and I'm so thankful for him. He was always so attentive to her needs, if anything seemed off he did whatever needed to be done to help her. I am thankful that she was loved so well until she went to be with the Lord and I'm thankful to know that she is rejoicing in heaven. Thank you Chuck for being a servant to her, I pray that you will be comforted in your loss by knowing that she is with the Lord and that we are thankful for you.

Evelyn Loos Spivey was my most long-time friend, since my age three. Shortly after that introduction, she became "Aunt Evelyn", my parents wanting some "family" for me because we lived so far away from our blood families. Aunt Evelyn was in my life a lot, whether this was to take a bunch of kids to the beach on Tuesdays during the summer--having made us all tuna sandwiches--or giving us bread to feed the birds or making clothes, including my wedding and bridesmaids' dresses. She was ALWAYS encouraging and kind. Most importantly though, she was also THE greatest influence in bringing my mom, dad, and I to the knowledge and need for our Savior, Jesus Christ, on Mother's Day in 1966. For that, she never spoke a word; the witness was with her quiet life, which was a good one, showing a God-focused attitude throughout. Thank you, Linda and Larry, for sharing your mom with me!

My mom went to be with Jesus on January 21, 2019.  I know she is happy and at peace, but it is hard on the ones left behind.
 
I have been fortunate enough to have stayed in the same vicinity as my mom.  When she moved to Sun City, 31years ago, I knew it would be harder for us to see each other, but the hour and 20 minute drive hasn’t been that bad.  

One thing she did for us was write her life story in a book form.  I read it again this week and have thoroughly enjoyed thinking about her telling me this story.  She had a very interesting life.
She was a teenage bride and I was born when she was only 19 years old.  I was always proud of having young parents.  They were full of energy and kept very active.  My mom was a talented seamstress and sewed for other people for years.  She made costumes for a dance studio, made wedding dresses (including mine), and bridesmaid dresses, and she made clothes and did alterations for customers.  She always enjoyed doing this and it brought in a little extra income.  She was a leader and usually was in charge of something or other in her various churches.  When in Sun City, she was the choir director of one of the churches for many years.  

Two years after my dad died, she married Chuck Spivey.  I was a little worried because they didn’t know each other for long.  He had also been widowed after a long marriage, and was a Christian.  I didn’t need to worry though.  They have had a good 10 year marriage.  About 4 or 5 years ago, her age began to catch up with her.  Her memory slipped and she was not able to take care of things like she used to.  Chuck stepped right in and began to take care of her.  I never had to worry about her because I knew he was there.  He cooked all the meals, bought her extra vitamins, took her to the doctor and so many more things that go along with care. I can’t be more grateful!

Mom, I miss you, but I know I will be with you again in Heaven someday.

Thirty years ago I relocated to Hawaii and have mostly stayed in touch with Mom with a phone call.I am her only son, Larry, and will forever be grateful for all the memories I have of Mom. She truly was a special woman. If I think back over the years, I can't recall a single time she said anything bad about anyone. How many of us can say that about their selves? Not me. Mom helped so many over the years and never complained. As a mother, she was always supportive and offered good advice when asked for it. There are so many good things to say about Mom and so many great memories to share, but I won't go on with more at this time. As the years rolled on, hearing became an issue and phone conversations became more difficult. I know that frustrated Mom but technology wasn't able to help. When Dad, passed away in 2005 none of us ever figured she would remarry, but a wonderful loving man named Chuck Spivey expressed interest and it wasn't long they married. Chuck made certain their honeymoon would be to visit me and my wife, Marilyn, in Hawaii. We had a wonderful time seeing all the sites and spending precious moments together. My Mom was so happy and giddy to be a new bride at age 79. It was great to see her so happy and it turns out, the last time I would see her. Okay, now the tears are beginning to well up again, but I am so grateful that Chuck was there for her and tended to her every need up until the end. It must be so difficult for him, I can only imagine the pain of losing someone so loved. He always said they were like two peas in a pod. Anyway, I love you Mom and I will always think of you each and every day. Thank you so much for everything you did for me, my sister, Linda and everyone else that had the pleasure to be near you.
