I didn’t find out about Doug’s passing until two years later (2024), after I had a moment of recollection to look him up. Doug was a wonderful mentor as a Lieutenant in the San Bernardino Marshal’s then merged in to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department. As a subordinate I never had complaint he was always firm but fair. He even helped me off duty with a family problem, which I will never forget. Gosh he was nothing but a great guy! To the family I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for the family's loss of this wonderful gentleman, Doug Newman.  He was a great man and an even better friend to my husband, Preston Leslie, who unfortunately, passed away about week after Doug.  They are now up in Heaven enjoying their Sunday breakfasts again.  Doug was like a brother to Preston and they completely and totally enjoyed each others company, even taking vacations together.  They had known each other for many years and continued their friendship and brotherhood through work and after retirement.  I pray that God wraps his loving arms around Doug's family and friends as they deal with the grief that is left behind when we lose a loved one.  Remember, Doug is in a much better place and out of pain, and now enjoying many laughs with my dear husband, Preston.  God bless them both.  My condolences for your loss and rest in peace, dear Doug.
