Doris was born on January 16, 1920 in Marshall, MN. In 1927, she and her parents, Ralph and Anna Strunk, moved to California and settled in Whittier. She graduated from Whittier High School in 1937. In 1941 she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Granger. During their 60 years of marriage, Tom and Doris were very active in their community. They belonged to the VFW Whittier Post where Doris was Ladies' Auxiliary President. Doris enjoyed working at polling places during Election years. They were very involved in their children's activities from Boy and Girl Scouts to bowling tournaments. Doris also chaperoned many school field trips. They also belonged to several bowling leagues, several of which Doris was secretary for over the years. After Tom's retirement in 1980, they were able to enjoy their passion for camping to the fullest, which included belonging to the Kampfire Kampers group based in Hemet and taking several long trips around the United States. They moved to Hemet in 1990 where they continued to be active bowlers, joining 3 leagues with Doris eventually becoming secretary of one. They also enjoyed watching their grandchildren's sporting events from baseball and softball to soccer and bowling. After Tom's passing in 2001, Doris continued to enjoy her bowling and kept in touch with her camping friends, playing Pinochle with them a few times a month. Doris also enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting and cross stitch needle work.
Doris is survived by her children, Ken Granger of Hacienda Heights and Lori Griley of Hemet, her 5 grandchildren, Ron Granger, Debbie Masek, Adam Granger, Jennifer Rubalcava and James Griley, and 8 great grandchildren
