Step-Dad, Father-In-Law & Grandpa
When David got together with Billie, he became part of our family and everyday life. We had frequent get togethers: birthdays, BBQ's, holidays, weddings, and sometimes just for the sake of spending time on the bosses boat. :) This year was the first father's day that he couldn't make it to due to illness. In 1993, our property was flooded for the second time in two years. David was the only one to show up (shovel in hand) to help us fill sandbags in the pouring rain. We were drenched. David was "Grandpa"to Garry & Tracy. David was sharp as a tack and his humor and wit will be missed!

Child - Brother - Husband
From David's Sister Frances: When WWII broke out in England, David and his twin brother Bill were 6 years old. His sister Frances was 14. They all attended different schools in London, and when bombed, they were evacuated in masses with the students being sent to all different parts of the country to keep them safe from the bombings. David and Bill remained with their "Mum" while their sister was evacuated. Once this evacuations began, the family was apart for nearly six years. David's mother, Anne Gertrude Lawrence, was a widow. Her first husband died in World War I, just 16 weeks after she bore her first set of twins, Velma and Jack. By the time World War II started , Velma was working and Jack was in the army. Jack was killed in the war, and David's childhood home was bombed. Upon reuniting Frances, Bill, and David with the rest of the family, Velma was married and Frances had already met her future husband Nelson. Frances and Nelson came to America on April 1, 1946. Most of Frances' memories of David are of him as a very little boy. She was Bill and David's main caregiver when they were small but doubt they would remember that. When David came to America, he lived with Frances and Nelson for a short time. Then he married the love of his life Billie.

To Dave's family, Dave was a friend and co-worker for many years here at ROHR Ind. He was a great engineer, diligent worker, and always very professional in his manner. We loved his sense of humor and will miss him dearly. His legacy here at the plant will live on for many many years as we enjoy the fruits of his labor. Rest in peace Mr. Lawrence.

Life with David
David married my mother Billie Marie, 30 some years ago. She passed away 6 years ago. My brother Scott, his wife Lona and their children Garry and Tracy and Great Grandchildren Allyson and Hudson were all part of David's life. We all shared a lot of good times. David was a proper English gentleman (when he wanted to be). He was also an accomplished Mechanical Engineer and had a very sharp mind, even later in life. He loved our Mother and us very much and we will miss him. He is at peace.... Shelley Smith-Krueger
