Clarence A. Barksdale III, 82, passed away on October 1, 2024, in Hemet, CA. Born on February 28, 1942, Clarence was known for his loving, funny, and intelligent personality, coupled with a wonderful sense of humor. His wisdom and readiness to offer advice were cherished by all who knew him.
Clarence proudly served as a Corpsman in the Navy for four years, receiving an honorable discharge due to injury. He was a dedicated member of the Bread of Life Church of Hemet, where he found great community and solace. Academically, he graduated from Central Sr. High School in and achieved an AA in Mathematics from Penn Valley Community College, both in Kansas City, Mo.
His love for playing golf, watching the Chiefs football games, and enjoying Western movies while savoring Gates BBQ highlighted his leisure times, reflecting his passions and interests.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Barbera Barksdale; brothers and sisters, Donald Barksdale (Carolyn), Margaret Jackson (Blade), Rosalyn Barksdale, Cheryl Barksdale, Paul Barksdale (Beverly), Anthony Barksdale (Kim), Janice Barnett (Richard), Casey Jones (Michelle); children, David Barksdale (Dixie), Kevin Barksdale (Madina), Kenny Barksdale, Richard Elbert, Earl Hicks, and Psyche Barksdale (Ron); along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence A. Barksdale Jr., and Ellen L. Jones; brother, Michael Hunter; sister, Jean Barksdale; and son, Terrance Elbert.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 25, at 10:00 AM at Miller Jones Funeral Home, 1501 W Florida Ave, Hemet, CA 92543. A graveside service will follow the same day at 1:45 PM at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
