Chet was a master craftsman, known in Oregon and Montana for his outstanding masonry skills. During his career he primarily worked for himself, and during a good part of his career he employed many as apprentices and employees. His wife of 59 years, Mary M. Dunn, competently ran the office and did the bookkeeping. They lived in several beautiful homes they had restored together. He had such a creative gift and Mary’s talent for restoration complimented his artistic eye. He delighted in taking visitors on enjoyable drives past many of the jobs he had completed, with a stop for ice-cream along the way.
Chet’s other interests included involvement in the churches they attended through the years, where he volunteered his talents in many projects including a mission trip to Mexico to build small homes for destitute families. He was also a member of the Elks, and they both enjoyed dancing and folk dancing. Chet loved hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, and skiing. In retirement, Chet took up oil painting on canvas. His beautiful paintings adorn several family members’ homes. He loved his family dearly and they enjoyed many adventures traveling together. He and Mary had several RV’s during his lifetime and took many trips. They had one extended trip around the entire country.
Chet loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved life. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is safe in the arms of his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed.
