Charles A Morgan Jr (Charlie) formerly of Bay City, Michigan and Escondido, CA, passed away peacefully at home in Hemet, CA on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. He was born on May 16th, 1943 to the late Patricia A (Toohey) and Charles A Morgan Sr.
From a young age Charlie was self-motivated and driven, taking on a paper route as a youngster to earn spending money, and working as a teen in a local Bay City gas station. He was a born entrepreneur who was successful in three different businesses - a gas station and auto repair shop, a desktop publishing and copying business, and a commercial and residential property management business.
By the age of 20 he had started his own gas station and auto repair business in Bay City, which in later years was known as Morgan's Auto Repair and still bears the name, (although it was sold in 1988). Shortly after, he married Sandra L (Sandi) Nickel, on June 20th, 1964, who remained both his business and life partner until her death on February 27th, 2009.
Charlie enjoyed golf -- playing several times a week at the golf course he lived on, until his health prevented him from playing any more. He also was a stickler for keeping his yard and garage in pristine shape, to the point that one of his neighbors asked him to keep his garage door closed because the neighbor's wife was complaining about the state of their own garage! Even with his health conditions he could often be seen on his scooter in the yard trimming the bushes he could reach.
On June 12th, 2012 he married Renee Dugan, whom he met through friends and who survives him. He was predeceased by his sisters Barbara Cragg and Gail Reid and is additionally survived by daughter Cheryl (Neil) Kramer, son David (Sowmya Rao) Morgan, grandson Andrew Kramer, Brothers-in-law Jerome Cragg, Bill (Dolly) Reid and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Alton and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/). The family will hold a celebration of life event in Michigan in June 2025. Details will be provided to family and friends in due course.
