Carol Ann MacKinnon, a longtime Menifee, California resident, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at home at the age of 83. Carol Ann was born June 19, 1936 in San Diego, California to her late parents Bruce Douglas Campbell and Mary (Collins) Campbell.
Carol Ann graduated from Medford High School in Medford, Massachusetts in 1954. Upon graduation she enlisted in the US Air Force where she proudly served our country. After leaving the Air Force, she continued to serve our country as an executive secretary in the US civil service until her retirement. In 1956 Carol Ann married her first husband, the father of her daughter, Leonard McDonald. In 1980 she married her second husband William (Bill) MacKinnon with whom she spent many years until his passing. She traveled the world, living in Morocco, Germany and Turkey; as well as in California, Michigan, Georgia, New York and Massachusetts.
Carol Ann loved crafts. She excelled at sewing, ceramics, painting, needle point, decoupage, jewelry making, baking, gardening, and decorating. Her most recent passion was making porcelain dolls where her talents truly shined. She enjoyed reading and watching classic movies, especially with her daughter Shelley. She was an animal lover as well. She could not resist helping any pet in need, and always had more than one dog and/or cat in her house for most of her life. Carol Ann was a very caring, loving, generous and strong woman. She survived breast cancer twice… a true warrior. Carol Ann was an extraordinary wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother who will be truly missed.
Carol was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Bill MacKinnon, her sister Dorothy Tuleja, and her brother Bruce Campbell. She is survived by her daughter Shelley (Sean) McKenna; step-children Ann (Bruce) Mellor, Brianna MacKinnon, Deb (Rich) Plotczik, Keith (Brenda) MacKinnon, and Wendy Stacks; her grandsons David (Arlene) Porter and Brian Porter; step-grandchildren Patrick Stacks, Daniel MacKinnon, and Virginia MacKinnon; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dogs Napoleon and Lucky.

Final arrangements are through Miller-Jones Mortuary and Crematory. Services are planned for Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 26704 Murrieta Rd, Sun City, CA 92585.
