Blanche Tunnell Foody, age 88, resident of Riverside, CA for 21 years, went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Blanche was the third child of the now deceased Ralph and Myrtle Booth. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 15, 1934. Blanche earned her nursing degree in 1955 from the Auburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and later graduated from the University of Green Bay Wisconsin in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. Blanche studied on scholarship at Columbia University in New York City, and the University of Washington in St. Louis, MO.
Blanche married William Joseph “Bill” Foody June 4, 1959. After 50 years of marriage, Bill died on October 30, 2009. Blanche is survived by her two sons; William McDonagh “Bill” Foody; his wife, Amy, and their two children, William and Josephine, living in Riverside, CA; Andrew Emmett “Drew” Foody; his wife, Lisa, living in Melbourne, Australia; Brother, Ralph Booth, and his kids, Kathy, Peggy, Stephen, and Billy; Nephew, Emmett Patrick Lynch; his wife, Fran, and daughter, Lexie, of Pasadena, CA. Close members of Blanche’s family; also deceased, are Brother, Wilmer Booth; sister-in-laws; Myra Booth and Kathy Booth. Both of Blanche’s sons and grandson, William, are Eagle Scouts; a collective achievement for which she was very proud.
Blanche worked at many hospitals as a Registered Nurse in obstetrics and in the emergency room; retiring in 1996 from Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louse, MO. Blanche’s activities included being an active member of the Grove Church, foreign travel, snorkeling, swimming, sailing and walking her dog. Blanche was well loved.
A Committal Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery; 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 on August 12, 2022 at 10:15 am with a memorial service to follow at 11:30am at The Grove Church located at 19900 Grove Community Drive, Riverside, CA 92508.
