John Curtis Metcalf was born July 28, 1950, in Shell Lake, WI the son of Clarence "Buck" and Myrtle (Losey) Metcalf. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1968 and moved to Milwaukee where he worked as a tool & die machinist apprentice and studied engineering and mechanical technology.
In early 1973 he moved to Florida and worked as an equipment operator. While living in Florida he met Carla Stine, and they were married at New Smyrna Beach, FL on July 21, 1973. Their first child was born in 1976 and the family moved back to Hayward where he worked doing commercial and private construction jobs.
In 1979 John and Carla had their 2nd child, and John started working for the City of Hayward. Carla Passed away in 1991 and John later met and married Sandra Smith. John worked for the City of Hayward until 2004, and worked for A-1 Excavating in Bloomer, WI until hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of Louisiana at which time he and Sandra moved to Louisiana and he worked in construction until returning to Hayward in 2010 for health reasons.
John was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed traveling, except by airplane, and working on miscellaneous projects in his garage.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carla and his second wife, Sandra, his parents Buck and Myrtle Metcalf and his sister Karit Capece.
He is survived by his son, John II (Brandy) of Stone Lake, WI; his daughter, Vicki (Jason) Lynn of Eau Claire, WI; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Alec and Alyse; one brother, Curtis (Susie) Metcalf of Hayward; two sisters, Judy Carlson of Hayward, Josephine Jinright of Marengo, IL.
