Min Grossi, age 81, of Hayward, WI passed away on Thursday, June 12th, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Min was born June 14, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Julius and Sophie Baumgartner. She grew up & lived in Chicago, IL into her young adult life. Min was joined in marriage to Paul H. Grossi on December 28, 1952 in Chicago, IL. Together they moved to Des Plaines, IL and built their home there. Min and Paul, along with their five children, moved to Hayward, WI in 1970, where they purchased Moody’s Camp on Big Spider Lake. After the loss of her husband Paul Sr. in 1983, the lodge was established as the Spider Lake Lodge Bed & Breakfast, which Min and her family owned & operated until its sale in 2001.
Min was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and had a generous heart. She was a fantastic cook and she loved old movies, fishing, bingo, good food and having all her family together.
Min is survived by, and will be truly missed by, her four children, Greg (Cealy) Grossi of Hayward, WI, Kathy (Rick) DePrey of Sun Prairie, WI, Debbie (Greg) Thiry of Sun Prairie, WI, Cindy (Glenn) Grant of Bourbonnais, IL; daughter-in-law, Barb Grossi of Hayward, WI; nine grandchildren, Glenn Jr. (Lindsey) Grant, Colette (Josh Jeck) Grant, Maria (Levi) Harrington, John Grossi, Jeff DePrey, Luke DePrey, Moriah Thiry, Nash Thiry and Joshua Thiry; one great granddaughter Georgia Grant; sister, Elaine Baumgartner, brother Jim Baumgartner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband & love of her life, Paul Sr.; her son, Paul Jr.; sister, Barbara Novak; and three brothers, Arthur, Richard and John Baumgartner.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Water’s Edge Care Center, Hayward Hospital, Hospice & Pastor Gary of Spider Lake Church.
A memorial service celebrating Min’s life will be held July 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Spider Lake Church, Hayward, WI, starting with a one-hour visitation.
