Judith (Judy) Carol Wacht (nee Epstein), of Purchase, NY, passed away suddenly on November 10, 2024, at the age of 76. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 18, 1948, Judy brought joy and light to all who knew her.
Judy was a devoted wife to her husband Harvey, a supportive and loving mother to her son Michael and daughter Lauren Simkin, and a devoted grandmother to Michelle and Joshua Simkin. She was a cherished sister to Marilyn Berger and brother-in-law to Albert Berger.
Judy was a lifelong learner, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and Masters of Science in Education from both Yeshiva and Fordham Universities. Her passion for education led her to a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher and then as a high school guidance counselor, where she touched the lives of countless students, most notably at Blind Brook High School in Rye Brook, NY. Even after retiring from public education, Judy continued to share her wisdom and experience as an adjunct professor at Mercy College, teaching guidance and career counseling.
Judy was known for her exceptional Bridge skills, her unwavering support for her family and friends, and her ability to offer wise counsel to those who sought her guidance. She was also passionate about health and wellness, embracing nutrition and exercise as a way of life. Her warm heart and generous spirit created a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to be part of her life.
