Irene Dubin passed away on February 9, 2014, at 101 years of age, in Shrewsbury, N.J. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin, they shared a life of family, work and travel for 65 years. Born in New Haven, CT, where she also met her husband, she later moved with him to Bennington, VT., where they owned and operated Carroll's Drug Store for 33 years. An active member of the Bennington community, Irene served as treasurer of the Bennington Hebrew Congregation women's auxiliary and was a member of the Altrusa Club, an international women's service organization. In 1969, they moved to Hamden, CT, and then on to Delray Beach, FL, where they stayed until 1995, then to Freehold, NJ., until her husband's death in 1999. Since then, she has resided in Shrewsbury, NJ. Wherever she lived, Irene made friends and kept them throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by her children: James (Susan) Dubin and Harriet (Steven) Straus; grandchildren Jacob (Sarah) Straus, David Straus, Alexander Dubin and Elizabeth (Alexander) Pugatch; and great-grandchildren Lillian and Benjamin Straus. Funeral services at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 21 West Broad St., Mount Vernon, NY, on Tuesday February 11th at 10 AM.
