The Family would like to welcome friends for the gathering and peaceful farewell of William, Sunday July 26, 2015 from the hours of 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hill Crest.
Daddy was born September 12, 1953, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late James Lamar, Sr. and Joyce Claudine Andrews Owens and lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, July 24, 2015, peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends. He visited the Baptist Tabernacle and the Word of God Ministries and always enjoyed listening to Bro. McMenis deliver his messages. Daddy was an avid sportsman always putting Hunting first with a side of archery and fishing. He would never meet a stranger, always taking pride in assisting others in need and doing whatever it took to place a smile on saddened faces. When Daddy would stop to assist a stranger on the road the only thing he ever asked in return was; they pay it forward. He would find himself always taking up for those individuals that others enjoyed picking on. Where you found Daddy, you would always find a smile on that handsome little face. We will miss all of the carefree, exciting moments you’ve blessed us with.
Daddy we know you are now reuniting and loving on everybody that has passed on before you; your parents; two precious daughters; Sherry Elise and Stacy Lynette Owens. Hug and kiss everyone for us!
Left to treasure the magnificent memories, William leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Gloria Gill Owens; two daughters, Kelly D. Owens (Terri L. Carney) and Shannon Owens Creel (Kevin); two brothers, Jim L. Owens, Jr. (Liz) and Mike Owens (Alice); three granddaughters, Stacy, Amanda, and Kristyn Creel along with many special extended family members and countless wonderful friends.
Honoring William as pallbearers will be Danny Morse, Scott Morse, Mark Morse, Steve Walker, De Wayne Lee, Melvin Young, and Oscar Dumas. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Gohring and his Motivation Industrial Family!
In honoring William’s life, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or your charity of choice.
