William Perry “Bill” Bowlin passed away on July 16, 2021 at the age of 82.
Bill was born in Dallas, Texas on January 21, 1939 to Perline Colvin and Charles Frederick Bowlin. After moving to Shreveport as a child, Bill graduated from Fair Park High School in 1957 and served in the Louisiana National Guard. Bill ran the engineering division of The Bowlin Company from 1969 until opening his sawmill engineering firm, W.P. Bowlin and Associates, which he led until his retirement.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Perline Colvin Bristow and Charles Frederick Bowlin, Sr., his sister, Mary Ethel Bowlin, his son, Brian “Scott” Bowlin, and his wife, Arden Ashley Bowlin.
Those who survive and celebrate his life include his brother, Charles “Fred” Bowlin, Jr., his sister Charline Haynes and husband Jim, sons, William P. “Rocky” Bowlin, Jr. and wife Sheila, Charles “Doug” Bowlin and wife Heather, and Jon M. Bowlin and wife Annelie, stepdaughters Kellie Alagic and husband Gorjan, and Courtney Jones and husband Rich. He is also survived by his grandchildren, including Hannah Bowlin and fiance Dusty, James Bowlin and girlfriend Stephanie, Brandon Bowlin and wife Macy, Daniel Bowlin and wife Danielle, Brett Bowlin, Austin Bowlin and wife Hannah, Conner Bowlin, Sydnie Bowlin, Adrian Alagic, Evan Alagic, Lucas Alagic, and great-grandchildren Allie Bowlin, Tristen Bowlin, Brycen Bowlin, Andrew Graves, Wilder Bowlin, Peyton Bowlin, and Audrey Paige Bowlin, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Bill was a loving and generous man who always had a smile for everyone and a story to tell. He was a hard worker, but he also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his time off, and he loved showing his trophies to his visitors and telling about his hunting adventures around the world. Bill was devoted to his family and was always the person you could count on in a crisis, and he found great joy in helping others whenever he could. Also, Bill was never afraid to experiment in the kitchen, but even if the meal didn’t turn out as planned every time, you knew you’d have fun anyway. Bill was consistently the life of the party, with a bear hug for everyone, and he had an ability to bring people in and make them feel like family. To his family, he was a rock, and he will be greatly missed, though he will live on in stories for years to come.
A visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA on Tuesday, July 20th at 1:00 pm, with a funeral service following at 2:00 pm. The burial will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park immediately after the service.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Bowlin, Daniel Bowlin, Brett Bowlin, Austin Bowlin, Conner Bowlin, and James Bowlin.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Foundation.
