Vera Inez Welch Brewton

Calhoun, LA

Vera Inez Welch Brewton, 95, was born in Gilbert, LA on March 29, 1918 and went to be with her heavenly father on December 2, 2013. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Dr. Randy Harper and Chaplain Tony Smith will be officiating the service. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA.

Inez was a retired beautician and worked for 65 years. She loved God, family and friends. Inez was one of seven children born to Vinnie Womble and Ava Downs Welch. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, James (Jake) Tyler Brewton; four sisters, Gladys Hale of Epps, Una Cavalier of Alexandria, Mary Virginia Bennett of Winnsboro, and Dawn Parker of Jackson, TN; two brothers, V.W. Welch and Cecil Welch both of Bossier City, LA.

Mrs. Brewton is survived by her daughter, Ginger Merritt and husband, Mickey of Calhoun; three grandsons, Jim Smith and wife Lisa of Bossier City, Jason Smith, Kerry Merritt and wife, Melodi of West Monroe, one granddaughter, Allison Merritt of Baton Rouge; four great-grandchildren, Haden Chandler Smith, Korbin James Smith, Mitchell Lee Merritt, and Madi-K Merritt; two sisters, LaVerne Smith from Bossier City, Margaret Williams Stewart of Winnsboro; one brother, Don Williams of Winnsboro; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Jim Smith, Jason Smith, Paul Smith, Tommy Smith, Kerry Merritt and Johnny Bennett.
