It is with broken hearts that we announce that Thomas C. Person, of Benton, La. passed at the age of 94 on January 18, 2024. He was born in Goldsboro, N.C. in April 1929 the fourth of ten children. He served 27 years in the U.S. Air Force, from 1947 to 1974, followed by 17 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He also served as a proud member of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Posse. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam E. Person, his second wife, Freda M. Person, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters. He is survived by brother Larry Person and wife Flora and sister-in-laws Dot and Maxine of Wayne County N.C; children Alice Duecker and husband Greg of Riverside Ca, Thomas Person and wife Melissa of Bossier City La, and Gary Person of Bossier City La; stepchildren Lori Choate and husband Jeff of Benton La, Karen Reed and husband Butch of Benton La, Phil Kennemer and wife Sandy of Shreveport La, Guy Kennemer and wife Chris of Spring Ridge La; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Rover.
His body will be laid to rest after a service scheduled for 2pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Brother Richard Beeman of Red River Baptist Church is officiating the service. Visitation is prior to the service from noon to 2pm.
Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Frazier, Butch Reed, Jeff Choate, Chris Moffett, Shawn Kennemer and Shane Reed.
