Graveside services for Shirley Lee McGee Sanders will be Friday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Billy Pierce presiding at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. She was born in Longview, TX on April 24, 1935, and passed away on May 23, 2013 in Maryville, TN. Shirley graduated from Bossier High School and lived in Bossier City for several years before her husband was transferred with his marketing position for Citgo to homes in Little Rock, Texarkana, and Shreveport. Then, they made their home in Jackson, MS for almost 40 years until she moved to Tennessee to live close to her son. Shirley and her husband Sam enjoyed square dancing and taught square dance lessons in several cities. Shirley was an accomplished artist and taught painting lessons for two decades in Jackson.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam Edmond Sanders, and her parents Grant and Elizabeth McGee. She is survived by her son, Steven Corley Sanders; two granddaughters, Samantha Sanders Caldwell and her husband Kevin, and Shannon Sanders; one great-grandson Locklee Caldwell; and several cousins, including Donnie Brook, Patricia Wyatt, and Jerry “Trigger” Allen.
