A memorial service celebrating the life of Ruth Glenn Tompkins will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at The Church of the Cross with Reverend Andy Harris, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at The Church of the Cross.
Ruth was born on April 11, 1929 in El Dorado, Arkansas and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2015. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family and her church meant everything to her.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diane Lynn, a great-grandson, Luke Ryan, her parents William and Sarah Glenn, three brothers, Otis Glenn, Albert Glenn, Raymond Glenn and one sister, Mildred Glenn Tullis.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 64 years, Don Tompkins, her children, Wayne Tompkins and his wife Susie, Larry Tompkins and his wife Michele, Linda Barber and her husband Ray, grandchildren, Jarred Tompkins and his wife Angela, Brooke Shirley and her husband Chris, Aaron Tompkins and his wife Crystal, Dustin Tompkins, DO and his wife Gina, Ashley Cozart and her husband Landon, and Jason Reeves, two step-grandchildren, Rachel Barber and Matthew Barber and nine great-grandchildren, one brother Hubert Glenn and wife Betty and Becky Netherton, a niece who was like a daughter.
Pallbearers will be Landon Cozart, Chris Shirley and her grandsons Jarred Tompkins, Aaron Tompkins, Dustin Tompkins and Jason Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Church of the Cross Building Fund.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors and attendants for the excellent care provided during her illness.
