Rose “Ann” Clair was born on April 28, 1935 in the quiet town of Coco tucked in the timbered Appalachians of West Virginia where she spent much of her early life. Relocating to Doyline in 1959 with her growing family, she put down roots, figuratively and literally, as she enjoyed filling her yard with beautiful plants as well as spending her leisurely time watching horse-racing and cheering for LSU football. Her fiery personality in tandem with her modern sense of fashion would ignite rooms at gatherings, while her aptitude for good questions and interesting conversation, crafted during 35 years in banking, would put those around her at ease, affectionately earning her the moniker, “Granny.” Surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Granny passed away peacefully on the afternoon of March 28, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Ruby Harris, and grandson, Chris McLemore.
Ann is survived by daughters, Beth Walker and Patty McLemore; grandchildren, Andrea Coburn, Trey Danger, Sammi McLemore; great-grandchildren, Samuel Coburn, Jayson Leathers, Stanley McLemore, Levon Danger, and Alexis Danger.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Johnson, Tyler Coburn, Tyler Strickland, Mitchell Landry, Jim McCalister, and Drake David.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Carpenter House and St. Joseph Hospice for keeping her comfortable under their care in the final days.
Graveside services will be held to celebrate the life of Rose Ann Clair at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Doyline City Cemetery with Pastor Michael Sanders officiating.
