Services will be held to celebrate the life of Rodney Darrell Squyres, Sr. at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rodney was born on November 29, 1936 in Lisbon, LA to Raymond Winston and Ruth Terral Squyres and passed away on August 5, 2022 in Bossier City, LA.
He worked in a supervisory capacity at Bird Roofing until his retirement.
Rodney enjoyed listening to music: country, bluegrass, and gospel. He could be found watching westerns and arguing with the news reports on television. In healthier years, he enjoyed watching horse races and playing cards. He liked to play golf when he was able. Mostly, he loved spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tucker Squyres, and son, Rodney Squyres Jr.; parents; and siblings, Pat, Jack and Fanni.
Rodney is survived by his son, Richard Squyres; daughters, Karen Gauntt and husband Steve and Amanda McCauslin and husband Chris; grandchildren, Morgan Faulkner, Victoria McCauslin, Robert Squyres and wife Jennifer and John Squyres and wife Yvonne; great grandchildren, Leigha Squyres, Tyler Squyres, Peyton Squyres and Donoven Mooney; siblings, Carroll Squyres and wife Patti, Ricky Squyres and wife Wanda, Judy LeGendre and husband Clay, Cathie Liles and husband Ronnie, Tommy Squyres, and Libby Hayes and husband Ricky; brother-in-law, Albert Tucker Sr. and wife Sue; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Jarrod Squyres, Luke Squyres, Matt Taylor, Jon David Liles, Robert Squyres, and John Squyres.
