HAUGHTON, LA – Services celebrating the life of Penny Lee Driggers DeYoung, 54, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Bro. Collin Wimberly officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ringgold, LA. Visitation will be on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Penny was born in Houma, LA on August 20, 1961 to Billy and Evelyn Driggers. She is a 1979 Riverdale Academy graduate, and a 1981 graduate of Pat Goins Cosmetology School. On April 11, 1987, at Springhill Baptist Church, she married her husband David. She worked in cosmetology, then in accounting for several businesses. In 2002 she opened & operated “Penny’s Parlor” in Haughton. Penny’s main enjoyment was caring for and spending time with her granddaughter, Bailey. Animals gave her lots of joy because they were always around. Penny was an active volunteer in her community as well as in area businesses.
She was preceded in death by her father; Billy Driggers, stepfather; Robert “Bobby” Moseley and mother-in-law; Nella DeYoung.
Penny is survived by her husband David DeYoung, daughters; Maegan DeYoung and Haley DeYoung, mother; Evelyn Driggers-Moseley, sister; Monica Ann Nolen and granddaughter; Bailey LeeAnn Metts as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Nolen, Brandon Nolen, Steve DeYoung, Stephen Metts, Ronnie Horne, James “Bubba” Mercer, Kirk Southern, and Trent Mercer. Honorary pallbearer is David Guidry.
