SHREVEPORT, LA – Graveside services for Paul Dudley Walker, 87, will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Officiating will be Rev. Ray Boswell, Dr. Jon Stubblefield and Rev. Ronnie Joe Webb.
Paul was born November 24th, 1929 to H.A. and Zel Walker in Doyline, LA and passed away on February 28th, 2017. He graduated from Minden High School, attended Centenary College, The University of Houston and The Jackson, MS School of Law.
Paul was a Certified Professional Landman, working for Gulf Oil Corp. for 23 years, Florida Exploration and Nelson Oil and Gas, retiring after over 40 years in the oil and gas industry.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Shreveport where he was a Deacon, in the Sanctuary Choir, Thursday Morning Prayer Breakfast and served on several committees.
In Jackson, MS, he was most proud of his helping establish The Republican Party in the 1960’s. He was involved in the Exchange Club work as President and later on state level as Treasurer, Commissioner of Minor League Baseball and on the Board of the Y.M.C.A.
Paul loved fishing with his First Baptist Church friends on Toledo Bend and Lake of the Pines. He looked forward to the Monday afternoon coffee at Biscottis with friends Bill Duncan, Larry Renfro, and Joe Thomas.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Betty Burcham Walker; daughter, Karen Walker Gill of Tyler, TX; granddaughter, Dana Brown and husband Destry of Portland, OR; grandson Adam Walker Gill of Tyler, TX; brothers, Norm Walker and wife Pat of Lindale, TX; B.D. Walker of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law Carol Burcham Colvin and husband Tom of Warren, AR; one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, and infant daughter, Janice Kay; son, Dean and son-in-law, Steve Gill.
