Affectionately known by most, if not all, as “Joey D”, he is a lover of all things sports, music and food. Joey taught DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) at Haughton High School in Haughton, LA from 1978 - 2011.
His story begins in Winnfield, Louisiana where he is the fourth born out of five siblings. After graduating from Winnfield Senior High in 1972, Joey attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing as well as his Master’s of Science in Marketing. Joey also served as a campus police officer during his school career.
Joey retired after 33 years of teaching and enjoyed spending time with his daughters, friends and neighbors. His favorite time was spent watching LSU and the Saints, cooking, listening to music and always laughing. Joey is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knows him.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Ruban Wilson and Dorothy Cecile Lolan Daughtry; sister, Linda Robertson; brother, Richard Daughtry; and nephew, Brad Daughtry.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters Amy Jo Daughtry Cotita and husband Ian, and Lindy Kay Daughtry; brothers, Jack Daughtry and Max Daughtry; special friend, Katie Leblanc; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 4:00 pm with a Memorial Visitation prior from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana.
