She was born on November 15, 1937 to Sidney and Esther (Dykes) Rascoe in Noble, LA. Myrtle always had a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed traveling and hiking in her younger years and enjoyed watching wildlife. Myrtle was most recently a member of Grace Tabernacle and adored her church family. She was great with kids, she helped to raise the children in her life. Myrtle worked at United Gas prior to starting her career as a legal secretary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas "Sonny" Rascoe; and nephews, Stevie Rascoe and Jamie Dickerson.
Myrtle is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Ellis Sams; sister, Janette Griffis; nieces, Brandi Freeman and Tommi Ann Bratton; and nephew, Jimmy Todd Dickerson.
A visitation for Myrtle will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Services will be officiated by Pastor Aline Carson.
