Melinda Marie Burns passed away on the early morning of March 4, 2023. She was 29 years old when Jesus Christ called her name into heaven. Melinda was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on December 21, 1993, and moved to Bossier City at an early age. She attended Airline high school where she participated in drama and soccer. Melinda had recently graduated from the University of Houston with her bachelors in anthropology, and was working towards teaching children with special needs.
Melinda was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Reverend Leonard and Mary Sue Arnold, Jackie Owens, and her uncle, Steve Boyter. She is survived by her mother Kimberly Burns Boyter, father Richard Boyter, and brothers Eric Burns and Ricky Boyter. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles including Linda and Sam Lewis, Jack and Donna Burns, Paul and Sarah Boyter, Mike and Linda Boyter, Beverly Boyter, and numerous cousins.
Melinda had a passion for children, animals, and music. She loved singing for her family and friends, and had a beautiful voice. Melinda had a generous heart for helping others, especially those in need. She was a bright light to her family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to give their deepest appreciation to Melinda’s “Godmom” Holly and her family for giving her guidance and love prior to her death.

Services to celebrate her life will begin with a Visitation at 10:00 am, followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 am, with Chaplain Jimmy Sistrunk officiating. Services to be held Wednesday, March 8, at Hill Crest in Haughton.
