Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Laverne Santoro, age 90, will be held Friday March 5, 2021 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with funeral service to immediately follow.
Mrs. Santoro was born April 25, 1930 in Robeline, Louisiana to Sadie Lou (Dockens) and Robert Perry Matthews, and died Sunday, February 28, 2021 surrounded by family.
She loved her family, playing cards and board games, monthly ladies’ luncheons, and attending every “Friday Hair Day” for 41 years with Theresa Caldwell. She was a wonderful cook, a fabulous Mother and the best “Mamaw” you could ever ask for.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sadie Matthews and her loving husband of 59 years, Charles Joseph Santoro.
She is survived by son, Cary Santoro and wife Janine; daughters, Paulette and husband Bossier City Councilman Tommy Harvey, Charlotte Butcher and husband James. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Belinda Timmons Bault and her husband Lieutenant Colonel Shawn Bault, US Army, Master Sergeant Jason Harvey, USAF, Christopher Santoro and wife Brittany, Holly Butcher, Ph.D. and her wife Kurstie “Percy”, and Matt Butcher. Mary was blessed by 4 Great-Grandchildren - Christian Bault, Kaleigh Faith Timmons, Bella Grace Bault and Kennedy Parks. She has one surviving sibling, her brother, George Matthews of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Mary will be deeply missed by a huge extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Bault, Jason Harvey, Christopher Santoro, Holly Butcher, Matt Butcher and Christian Bault.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Sanjay Shah and his staff, the Step-Down Unit at Willis Knighton Bossier and a special thank you to her caregivers, Tamara Pate and Emily Offutt.
