A Celebration of Life Service for Mary Elizabeth Phillips, age 52, of Shreveport will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Haughton, LA with Brother Scotty Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.
Mary was born in Kansas City, MO on April 23, 1965 to Clinton Phillips and Shirley Frances Phillips. She passed away in Shreveport and went to her heavenly home on September 21, 2017.
Mary spent most of her professional life as both a teacher of cosmetology and a grievance counselor. She was also a successful business owner of Two Friends Tanning Salon.
She spent the latter part of her life focusing on spending time with her children and grandchildren and helping those in need. Her personality was electric, causing people to gravitate towards her. She was witty, fun, and caring.
Mary firmly believed that there is no such thing as a goodbye, only, See You Later!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Shirley Phillips; Grandma Tessi Jones, also by her first husband Richard Loyd Pruitt and her second husband Kenneth W. Dugger.
Mary is survived by her oldest son Justin Pruitt; daughter, Candice Brant; grandchildren, Mary Jo and Lee Gibson, Nevaeh and Jewel Pruitt; and brothers, Bill and Jim Piburn.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Gibson family, Horton family, and her “second son” Cody. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her dearly.
Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Hub Urban Ministries, 605 Cotton St. Shreveport, LA 71101, or to a charity of your choice for the benefit of helping those in need or to a charity for the benefit of the Arts or Education.
