Martha was born and raised in Bossier City and graduated from Airline High School in 1975 before earning her Bachelor’s degree in 1979 from Louisiana Tech University where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority.
Martha taught high school in Baton Rouge and earned a Master’s degree in English Literature from Louisiana State University in 1982 before returning to Bossier City in 1994 to teach English at Parkway High School. In 1998 she received her Master’s degree in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University, and in 2000 became a guidance counselor at Parkway High School until her retirement in 2015 after 33 years in public education.
Along the way, Martha impacted the lives of many young people and made many cherished friendships.
Martha had two wonderful children, Mallory and Mason, whom she dearly loved.
On June 10, 2000, Martha married Charles Lee and together they raised Mallory and Mason, and his three children, Alice, Jon, and David.
Martha loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, and a wonderful mother and grandmother, whom her grandchildren affectionately called “MiMi”.
Martha is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Allen Calkins, and is survived by her parents, Otis and Wanda June Allen of Bossier City, sister Jeanie Armstrong of Benton, as well as her children and step-children Mallory Holloway and her husband Brannon of Haughton, Mason Chambers and his wife Jessica of Baton Rouge, Alice Hunt and her husband Freddie of Haughton, Jonathan Lee and his wife Megan of Arlington, Virginia, and David Lee and his wife Alexandra of Hillsborough, North Carolina; along with her beloved grandchildren Evan, Ainsley, Holt, Hanley, Winnie, Willa, and Rhett, and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was truly an angel sent to us by God and now he has called her back to his Grace.
She will be dearly missed.
A visitation for Martha will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM until time of a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
