A Funeral Mass will be held for Marie Arceneaux Helms at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 425 McCormick St. in Bossier City. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation and Rosary on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA.
Marie Arceneaux Helms was born August 28, 1923 to Eddie J. Arceneaux, Sr. and Violette Menou Arceneaux in Bay St. Louis, MS. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1940. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated from University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1944 where she was member of the Alpha Mu Chapter of the Kappa Delta sorority.
Marie first came to Bossier City, LA in 1957 with her husband, Dennis who was stationed at Barksdale AFB. They became permanent residents in 1969. She was a member of Holy Family Parish on Barksdale AFB before she became part of Christ the King’s Parish in Bossier City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis E. Helms and son, Harvey Helms.
Marie is survived by her sons, Michael Helms and Robert Helms; daughter, Vivian Olson (John); grandchildren, Patrick Helms (Amy), Erin Helms, Beau Helms, Bobby Helms (Amanda) and Emily Olson; great grandchildren, Taylor, Hayden, Kaylen, Spencer and Avery; sisters, Jeanne Bonck and Nannette Gatti and numerous nieces and nephews.
