Margie was born in Grappes Bluff, LA on February 23, 1935. She dedicated 57 years to working for the State of Louisiana. She was an avid reader and could get through a large book in a matter of days. Margie was also well-known for her addiction to QVC. We will probably find many hidden treasures along the way. Other hobbies included cross stitching, gardening and working puzzles.
Margie was fiercely protective of her family. She could give us a piece of her mind but heaven help anyone else who tried to do the same. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had her heart. Most importantly, Margie loved the Lord. She did her best to instill the importance of God, church and family in all of us. Margie found her church family at Benton Methodist after moving to Benton 13 years ago. She truly loved her Sunday School class, the Pairs and Spares; the congregation and Pastor Brad. She volunteered at the Clothes Closet and Souper Saturday for many years until her health declined.
Margie was preceded in death by parents, Brady Roy Garner, Sr. and JoAnn (Clark) Garner; and brother Clark Garner (Hup). Margie is survived by her siblings; Brady Garner and Lola Roton; daughter, Lola Bednarke; grandsons, Austin Bednarke and wife Tiffanie and Walker Bednarke; great-grandchildren, Brayden Bednarke and Ryker Bednarke; her beloved dogs, Vinnie and Blanche; and cats, Peanut, Callie and Addie.
Services to celebrate Margie’s life and Easter resurrection will be held at 12:00 p.m. on April 29, 2023 at Benton Methodist Church, 4615 Palmetto Dr. Benton, LA 71006.
The family would like to thank the Willis-Knighton Bossier doctors and nurses who did their best to keep her with us; the paramedics; and Dr. Ted Warren and staff who lovingly cared for her for many years.
Memorial donations can be made to Benton Methodist Church or Ninna’s Road to Rescue.
