A Service honoring Margaret “Maggie” Dawson Norman, 58, will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, in the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 601 Hwy. 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana. Service will begin at 10:30 AM, with Bro. Ron Johnson presiding. All are welcome to come to visit, as soon as 9:45. Maggie was a big Dallas Cowboys fan (her husband, Hal, is not); however, out of love for his wife, he invites you to join him in honoring Maggie by wearing Dallas Cowboy attire to her service.
Maggie was born on May 26, 1966, to Bobby and Rona Dawson, at Barksdale Air Force Base. She passed away suddenly on July 20, 2024, at her home in Bossier City. Maggie was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Dawson; mom, Rona Dawson; sister, Jane James; brother, Robert Dawson; sister, Rona Dawson; and her son, Joe Wayne Balistrella.
Maggie worked at Brookshire Grocery for 20 years. It was the perfect job for her, because she never met a stranger. She enjoyed meeting people and could carry-on extended conversations with people she did not know. She even met Hal, her husband, at the Brookshire’s on Line Avenue in 1997 and, as they say, the rest is history. She has been by his side ever since.
Beyond her career, Maggie’s devoted spirit and vibrant personality shone brightly through her love for her Mom, her family and her friends. Known for her big heart and unparalleled generosity, she loved talking on the phone all hours of the night ! She was a true friend and was quick to offer help to anyone who needed her any time of day or night. And Maggie never met an animal she didn’t like, especially cats. =^.^=
Maggie is survived by her husband Hal Norman; sons, Richard Dawson and fiancé Jamie Dean, Ryan Norman, and Josh Norman; grand-children, Brandon, Emma, Abigail, Katie, Aubreigh and Jarret; several nieces and nephews, along with special nieces, Hailee Dawson and Vicki Rhodes. Maggie dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them at every opportunity.
Maggie leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and unyielding devotion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her loving heart and kind ways will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family, friends and fur babies. She will be greatly missed !
