She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Douglas Robison, her parents, Bertha Mae Akin Waldron and Samuel Allen Waldron, and also her eldest daughter, Donna Lynn Robison.
Louise attended South Highlands Elementary School and Byrd High School. She graduated high school in 1955. She and Doug were married in 1956 and stayed married for 65 years, until his death in 2021. In her lifetime, she lived many places due to Doug’s different jobs during the years. She lived in Houston, Texas, Roswell, New Mexico, and Marshall, Texas to name a few. But she called Shreveport home, and they lived most of their lives in the Shreveport area. She worked most of her life as a housewife and mother. She had several creative jobs during her lifetime such as hanging wallpaper and making purses. Louise spent most of her retired years enjoying playing cards with her friends and family, working on arts and crafts projects, and decorating.
During her life, Louise was a person who was always taking a casserole to someone, always helping someone by watching children, or always listening to someone on the phone who needed a friend. She taught her children and grandchildren how to cook and sew. She was always baking or cooking something and she could almost always be found in the kitchen. She loved gospel music and bible studies. Louise loved plants and flowers and was usually growing something or taking care of something. She was a very nurturing person and was someone who felt deeply, loved deeply and cared deeply for others.
In 1975, Doug and Louise tragically lost their eldest daughter, Donna, in an automobile accident which prompted them to adopt Donna’s infant daughter, Kasie. Doug and Louise also adopted another one of their grandchildren, Jacob Robison in 2006, after Hurricane Rita demolished a family home.
Louise was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Louise also faithfully attended Greenwood Methodist Church for many years until they moved to Shreveport after retirement. There she attended Summer Grove Methodist for many years until she was unable to drive. She most recently attended Christ United Methodist Church.
The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to Pastor Mark Bray; LaToya Chalmers, their favorite helper and sitter; Donna Valentine and Kathy Wilemon with Hill Crest Funeral Home; and Shelia at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House Hospice Care Center.
After the service, the family will receive friends and guests at John and Kasie’s home to celebrate the life of this wonderful woman who will be missed by so many.
Louise loved flowers, but if you would like to remember her in another way, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
