Leslie was born in Savanna, Georgia on June 3, 1962 and unexpectedly departed from us on February 23, 2023. She was born into a military family and after many postings, in 1972, the family returned to their roots and relocated back to Bossier City, LA. Leslie is a graduate of Parkway High School class of 1980. In 1987, Leslie and former husband (Hylton “Butch” Hanson, Jr) welcomed their first daughter Courtney, and in 1990 welcomed a second daughter, Morgan. Approximately 5 years later, after maintaining a single parent household, she conceived her third daughter, Dedra in 1995. In 1999, Leslie started her career as a secretary at Harrison/Imperial Trading Company where she met David L. Dixon whom she later married on March 31, 2002. Leslie and David reveled in each other’s company and spent many weekends on their motorcycle and in their camper exploring new adventures together all over the country.
Leslie loved to let her hair down and enjoy life by dressing up and indulging in any kind of themed party. She truly treasured spending time with the people she loved the most. She was an associate member of the National Harley Owners Group & an associate member of the local 3 State NW LA. HOG Chapter where she held the position of secretary for 11 years. In addition, Leslie also served on the committee for Run With the Nuns and held the position of Secretary during the State HOG Rally in 2016. Leslie was involved in many organizations and enjoyed sharing her time and efforts. She immersed herself and adored being a member of the Krewe of Centaur for 7 years and served on the committee for the Annual Golf Tournament for 5 years.
She is preceded in death by her father, TSgt Charles S. Ryan; her mother, Julianne “Judye” Louise Browne Ryan; and brother-in-law, Bruce Lombardino.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Dixon; and three daughters, Courtney Morris and husband Josh Morgan Fain and husband Cody, and Dedra Blaylock and husband Eric; and her 5 grandchildren, Hayden, Madelyne, Jordan, Josie, and Ramsey. She is also survived by her three sisters, Michaele "Mickey" Hatcher, Retired SFC Celeste “Becky” Ryan, Valerie Ryan Finley and husband Dr. David. Along with in-laws, Kees and Billie Dixon; sisters-in-law, Carol Dixon Lombardino, Veronica Dixon Merritt and Lee; and an abundance of loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to share special appreciation and deepest gratitude for the two nurses, Jennifer Jones and daughter Lauren Jones for aiding in assistance during the time of need and to Bossier EMS and WK Pierremont Hospital for their compassionate dedication and sympathetic care during an extremely difficult time.
