She married Richard “Dick” Steele in 1953 and raised five boys and lived in Eunice and Haughton, Louisiana, Payson, Utah, Georgia, Maine, North Dakota and Panama. Dick and Laura returned to Texas after Dick retired from the Civil Service in Panama.
Laura had a passion for the simple things of life, her husband and five boys, flowers, anything with owls, her many dogs and other pets that she had. She loved working in her yard when she was able to do so. She had many good friends from all the places she lived and kept in touch with many of them.
The memorial service will be held at the Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Haughton, LA on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Father Karl Daigle officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude.
Laura is survived by three sisters, Linda Carriere Tatman, Mary Carriere Duplechain and Helena Carriere Oubre; four sons, Daniel G. (Diana) Steele, Mark E. (Debbie) Steele, Donald James “Jim” (Yvonne) Steele and Zachary S. Steele; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard G.
