Larry Joe Powell, 76, passed away on August 31, 2021. Born on November 13, 1944 to Gerald and Kathryn Powell. Larry joined the United States Air Force in February of 1962. He severed his country as an Air Traffic Controller for over 20 years until September of 1983. After his retirement from the Air Force Larry worked for the VA hospital from 1983 until 2006. He maintained membership at VFW post 5951 up until his passing.
Larry joins in Heaven his parents, Gerald and Kathryn; and his brother Gary Powell.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Bobbie Powell of Bossier City, LA; daughters Kelly Horne (Greg) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Krissy Shelton (Bill) of Bossier City, LA, Nikki Bland (Robert), of Marshall, TX; grandchildren Craig and Alyssa Horne of Fairfax, VA, Carly Horne of Vienna, VA, Alex and Alexis Shelton, Baton Rouge, LA, Taylor Shelton and Chris Campbell of Denver, CO, Michael Shelton of Bossier City, LA, Ashley and Cody Lee of Benton, LA, and Hunter and Alex Bland of Haughton, LA; and great grandchildren Greyson Lee, Eliana Bland, and Connor Horne.
