LaNora's family moved from where she was born in New Mexico to Montana, where she attended school before moving to Arkansas then to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated High School. She had a lifelong love for animals, especially horses. She became a trick rider and excelled in trick riding, showing horses and barrel racing. She eventually moved back to Arkansas where she met and married her first husband, Johnny "Bo" Dougan and had two children. She continued to trick ride and barrel race. After divorced, she was a sponsor in her local 4-H, gave children horse riding lessons and lessons in showmanship. She taught her two biological children to show and ride horses from a very early age and they eventually showed throughout the years in many events. In 1975 after marrying Bill Moore, LaNora became a licensed Racehorse trainer through the State Racing commission in Arkansas. Together she and Bill began training Racehorses at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas where they had some success. She eventually moved to Louisiana in 1978 and trained Racehorses at Louisiana Downs. In 1983, she gave up her Trainers License and became the first licensed Equine Electro-Acuscope Therapist in the State of Louisiana. At that time, there were only 22 licensed Equine Electro-Acuscope therapists in the United States. She was a major pioneer in this field and eventually became licensed in training others in this field. She has treated many famous/well known racehorses in the racing industry throughout the country and in her 37-year career as an Equine Electro-Acuscope Therapist. Her training others also took her to many places across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. She spoke at many Equine Medical conventions and wrote manuals for Equine Electro-Acuscope application and training manuals. Today there are many, many, licensed Electro-Acuscope Therapists throughout the United States in this field accredited to LaNora, who are continuing to help countless animals in all fields. Later, after her husband passed in 2004, she also began to treat many paralyzed dogs and was interviewed for segments on local television stations. There are countless recoveries of paralyzed dogs who were completely healed. LaNora has helped many, many, animals in many fields, even wildlife and zoo animals. She continued this hard work until age 80, when she had a life changing accident.
You would think she was "down for the count" when she required consistent medical care and assistance and had to live in a nursing facility. NO...she thrived. Many, many stories of how she assisted staff with helping others. She was a friend to many of the staff. She was like a mother to some and became a loving friend to many others. She loved God and helped many in finding their way to God and also conducting Bible studies. She loved to laugh and find humor in everything. She was a joy and a light to everyone who knew her. She lived a long productive life and is deeply loved by many. This world lost a shining light when she left. She will be most greatly missed....
