The funeral service for Kaleb Micah Hamby will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Haughton, Louisiana, under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home and officiated by Dr. Gevan Spinney. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 16, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Sterlington, Louisiana.
Born April 2, 1987, in Monroe, Louisiana, and raised in Sterlington, Louisiana, Kaleb was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charlie Bedenbender and Glen Hamby. Left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his loving wife, Ashley Marie Townsend Hamby, and his precious daughters Micah Marie, Millie Jane, and Maya Shay Hamby. Also surviving Kaleb and cherishing his memory are his parents, Charles Hamby (Cindy) and Jane Lawson (Sammy); grandparents, Ellen Hamby and Lucy Kizer (Michael); brothers, Daniel Hamby (Christy) and Brent Hamby (Britni); step-siblings, Bryanth (daughter Pyper) and Brady (Sara) Lawson (sons Braddock and Maverick) and Jacob Yarbrough and Mckenzie (Devin) Yarbrough; father- and mother-in-law, Billy and Jeanna Townsend; brother-in-law Brandon Townsend (Kimmie); and his treasured nieces and nephews, Anna Grace, Easton, Brylee, and Brynn Hamby and Everleigh Townsend.
Kaleb was a 2005 graduate of Sterlington High School where he excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field. He was the Class of 2005 Valedictorian and received the Buddy Blair Award, which recognizes the top scholar-athlete in Northeast Louisiana. Kaleb played in two state championships in football and one in baseball. He was named Academic All-State in three sports: football, baseball, and basketball.
After graduation from high school, Kaleb attended Louisiana Tech University and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in mechanical engineering. He enjoyed his career path working at Angus, Honeywell, Calumet, and Voigt-Abernathy. On May 5, 2012, Kaleb married Ashley, the love of his life, and moved to Haughton, Louisiana. He was a member of First Baptist Church-Haughton and the NRA. Kaleb was well known in the RC racing community and shared his love of this sport with the younger generation and planned many racing events.
While Kaleb’s greatest passion was spending time with his wife and daughters, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, mud riding, racing RC cars, gaming, pranking his friends, and getting facials and pedicures from his wife and daughters. Kaleb especially loved afternoons spent shooting tanzanite with his brothers and friends!
Kaleb went to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, December 11, 2021, after a tragic traffic accident. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Honoring Kaleb as pallbearers are Brent Hamby, Daniel Hamby, Tyler Rhodes, James Ramsey, Brandon Townsend, Dylan Felicetty, Justin Lynch, Joey Sullivan, Russell Hutzler, Tyler Eckhardt, Will Merritt, Jeremy Hill, Chris Goodrich, Jake Ashley, Brandon Broussard, Jake Dettenheim, and Billy Townsend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit his family at any branch of Citizens National Bank. The family would like to thank the Haughton community for the outpouring of love during this difficult time.
