Jude was born in Lafayette, La on January 16, 1963 to Pat and Maugie Pastor; he was the fourth of eight children. Jude Thomas Pastor was named in honor of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and its founder, Danny Thomas, where his brother, Jep was being treated for leukemia.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick (Jep) Pastor, Jr. and Bob Pastor.
Jude is survived by his parents, Pat and Maugie Pastor; wife, Jamie Culbertson Pastor; daughters, Morgan Shows (Kevin) and Maura Fielding (Mark); the light of Jude’s life, his grandsons: Kaleb Shows, Troy Fielding, Nolan Fielding and Micah Shows; siblings, Jim Pastor, Mary Claire Haver, Leah Boulley, Jeremiah Pastor and John Pastor, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his first wife, Sherry Pastor of California who he always held in his heart.
He had many special friends he considered brothers, and they loved him the same way.
He fought a long, hard battle against esophageal cancer, and now the cancer is dead. Praise God! Jude lives in the presence of the Lord! Even in the times when he was very sick, he kept a positive attitude. If you asked his how he was doing, the response was always “Super fantastic! Never had a bad day!”
Jude loved horses and loved his life working with racehorses. He was an exemplary horseman, a superior rider, and a meticulous farrier. He loved his family, and nothing was more important. He loved being “Papa”; he loved his wife Jamie without reservation. He loved helping people, and loved helping horses with problems. Jude loved to cook for the people he loved, and was a superior chef. His crawfish boils were legendary. He loved the Saints and LSU football! GO TIGAHS!!
He was much loved and admired and respected. He will be greatly missed until we see him again.
Services celebrating the life of Jude Pastor will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Mausoleum at Hill Crest Memorial Park with Pastor Jimmy Sistrunk officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home. The family requests guests to wear something purple in honor of Jude. A service will also be held in Lafayette, La at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
