Celebration of life service for Joyce Evelyn Wooten, 89, of Bossier City will be held at Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City on Saturday, June 24th at 2PM. Dr. Randy Harper will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held at Bellaire Baptist Church from 5-7PM on Friday, June 23rd. Interment will be at Hillcrest.
Mrs. Wooten was born in Lincoln County, Mississippi on June 10th, 1934. She passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2023 after a short illness. She was loved by many, both young and old, and touched every life she came in contact with. She was a selfless and loving person with an innate ability to see the good in everyone. Mrs. Wooten loved gardening, cooking, and was a true role model for anyone she met. She was a very talented artist especially with landscape oil paintings. Mrs. Wooten was a member and devoted Sunday School teacher at Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City for over 50 years. She will be sadly missed by her family, many friends, neighbors, her Sunday School classmates, church family, and the countless lives she had an impact on.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Daniel Wooten, parents Otis Walker of Ferriday and Myrtis Smith of Baton Rouge and her sister Judy Weeks of Natchez, Mississippi.
She is survived by two sisters Sue Cothern and Romona Lambert, both of Vidalia, son Steven D. Wooten and wife Ann of Haughton, daughter Vicki L. Dodd of Bossier City, son Kerry L. Wooten and wife Lisa of Monroe, son Brian K. Wooten and wife Caprice of Bossier City, grandchildren Danny Stutzman, Stephanie Wooten Graves, Jason Wooten, Melissa Wooten Richardson, Valerie Wooten Barcelona, Kerrah Wooten Fabacher, Blake Wooten, Tyler Wooten, and Hannah Wooten. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, Brandon, Caleb, Savannah, Ava, Mason, Michael, Avery, Jase, Colt, Elijah, Halle, Ezra, Titus, Addie, Chandler, Tatum, Eden, and Ivey.
Pallbearers will be Danny Stutzman, Jason Wooten, Blake Wooten, Tyler Wooten, Brandon Stutzman, and Caleb Stutzman.
The family wishes to express great gratitude to those who have been there for her and continue to be in support and love of the Wooten family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bellaire Baptist Church general building fund.
