Services will be held to celebrate the life of SMSgt. Joseph Tate Jester, USAF (Ret.) at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph served over 21 years in the Air Force where he honed his maintenance skills of airplanes. He was a pilot and instructor later in life. He was even an aerobatic in the Air Show at Barksdale, under the name: “Flying Fool.” He also had a passion for deer hunting, so he was always doing one or the other.
His favorite time spent was with his granddaughter, Cheyenne; she was “the apple of his eye.” Joseph was also a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he and his wife, Gail made many friends they call family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maybel Jester; son, Joseph Carl Jester; brothers, Robert Lee Jester and James Jester; and sister, Shirley Clayton.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda Gail Jester; son, Mark Lee Jester; granddaughter, Cheyenne Elaine Jester; sister, Anna Garrison as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Stacy McHalffey, Dean Williams, Bill Geaslin, Abe Rich, Tom Snyder and Jeff Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Murphy and Dusty Lee.
