John began working for Halliburton in 1976 and endured several lay offs, finally leaving the company with his last lay off in 2020. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his time participating in multiple outdoor activities including, water and snow skiing, hunting, fishing and white water canoeing. These activities led John to join the Ozark Canoe Society. John also enjoyed the relaxation that reading brought him.
Mr. Moncrief joins in Heaven his parents, Norman Leon and Nelwyn Moody Moncrief; and brother Clint Hamilton Moncrief; father-in-law, Rex Whitten; mother-in-law, Nita Whitten; brother-in-law, Jim Seals; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Bass.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Moncrief; sons, Rex Moncrief (Genia) and Joey Moncrief (Misty Compton); grandchildren, Michael Shields, Jeremy Shields, Steven Rex Moncrief II, and Landon Young; great-grandson, Samuel Lane Shields; brothers, Steven Moncrief (Pam), and David O'Donnell; sisters-in-law, Pam Seals, Prissy Criss, Carol Lynn Whitten Lapp; brothers-in-law, Carl Criss, and Eric Lapp; nieces and nephews, Heather Seals Baker (Matt), Carl Criss IV., Ashlee Criss, Jamie Criss, Brandi Bass, Teri Bass, Mark Longoria, Daniel Longoria, Cole Lapp, Chad Norman Moncrief (Blaine), and Stephanie Moncrief Razon (Mac).
A visitation for John will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. A funeral will occur Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
John will be laid to rest in Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, LA 71037.
