John Wesley Hardin Sr. “Wes” went to Heaven peacefully on October 19, 2023 in Frisco, TX. Services will be held to celebrate his life at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27th at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Military Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive guests for the viewing starting at 10:30 a.m.
Wes was born on February 22, 1933 in Columbia, MO to Dewey Hardin, Sr. and Rachael McAllister Hardin. His greatest memories of his younger years were spent playing basketball on his school team with his twin brother, Les. He was known as “Spider Hardin” on the court. After graduating University High School in Columbia, MO he joined the Air Force and served his country for over 20 years, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. Wes was awarded the Bronze Star during his time in the military. He was honorably discharged and retired in 1971.
Wes and his wife, Eva, who he called “Sandy”, were married for 68 years and made Bossier City, LA their home. Together they had two biological children, two adopted children, and were foster parents for many years. Wes worked until he was 82 in the oil field services in Louisiana. He spent much of his time gardening and working in the yard. He was a man of strong faith and a longtime member of Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church until he and his wife, Eva, relocated to Texas to be near family.
John is survived by his wife, Eva; children: John W. Hardin Jr., Danielle Riess, Justin Hardin and spouses; grandchildren: (Ashley, Jessie, Brandy, Toby, Sarah, Brielle, and Breckin); one sister, Louise Lawson and one brother, Don Hardin.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Foster; his parents, as well as his siblings, Edward Hardin, James “JR” Hardin, Dewey Hardin, Jr, Marion Eugene “Gene” Hardin, William Francis Hardin, and Helen Virginia Hardin Kircher; and his twin brother, Charles Leslie Hardin.
God had made a place for him. His room was ready in Heaven.
